Our J-Walkers Youth Group (for 6th -12th grade) pursues a path of justice and peace in many different ways -- activities, service projects, music, visual arts, retreats and trips. Currently (starting February 2019), we are meeting on 2 or 3 Sundays a month from noon to 2 p.m. and we have a movie night once a month on Friday.
Rev. Liam Battjes works with a crew of caring and creative volunteers who have been trained in child protection and cleared to work with youth. We select an issue every month that has been suggested by youth members and explore it with art, games, events, media, religion and service projects. Recently, we explored the topics of Racism, Incarceration, Economic Disparity and Native Americans.
We have four significant events throughout the year: Winter retreat to Camp Fowler, Mission Trip during Spring Break, Summer Wilderness Experience and Fall Creation Care Retreat at Camp Fowler. Once a month we also organize a family dinner for all ages.
Our faith confirmation program involves mentoring with pastoral staff, online reflections and the winter retreat.
If you are interested in volunteering to help with youth programs you must go through our child protective training site. Click here to complete training. You must also submit a background check and submit to the church office.
